iQoo 12 Series Launch Set for November 7, Confirmed to Run on Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC

iQoo 12 and iQoo 12 Pro have been confirmed to launch next month in China. The Vivo sub-brand, via Weibo, has confirmed the arrival of the new iQoo smartphones in its home country on Wednesday (October 25). The gaming-focused iQoo 12 and iQoo 12 Pro will run on Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. The iQoo 12 will be the first smartphone to come with Qualcomm’s new-gen SoC in India. The iQoo 12 series is expected to run on the Android 14 operating system and is tipped to feature 144Hz refresh rate displays. They are tipped to come with a triple rear camera unit.

The iQoo 12 and iQoo 12 Pro will be launched on November 7. The launch event will be held in China at 7pm local time (4:30pm IST), as per a teaser poster shared (in Chinese) by the company on Weibo. The iQoo 12 series is confirmed to run on Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. It would be the first gaming-oriented phone to get the new SoC. The flagship mobile chip was unveiled at the Snapdragon Summit this week. It comes as a successor to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC and is claimed to be the first mobile platform focusing on generative AI. The CPU has a prime core with a maximum clock speed of 3.3GHz and it supports Wi-Fi 7 and dual Bluetooth.

Meanwhile, iQoo India CEO Nipun Marya teased the arrival of the iQoo 12 5G in the country through an X post. He confirmed that it will be India’s first phone with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset

The iQoo 12 lineup is expected to pack a dedicated display processor with hardware-accelerated ray tracing for improved gaming graphics. The upcoming handsets are likely to run games including PUBG Mobile, PUBG New State, Genshin Impact, and LoL Mobile at 144 frames per second.

As per past leaks, iQoo 12 and iQoo 12 Pro will offer up to 24GB RAM and 1TB storage. They could ship with Android 14 and feature Samsung E7 AMOLED displays with a resolution of 2K and a refresh rate of up to 144Hz. The iQoo 12 series is tipped to get a triple rear camera setup, comprising a 50-megapixel OmniVision OV50H sensor with optical image stabilisation (OIS) and another 50-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL JN1 sensor with an ultra-wide-angle lens and a 64-megapixel OV64B telephoto sensor with 3x zoom and OIS support.

The regular iQoo 12 is said to house a 4,880mAh dual-cell battery with support for 120W fast charging. The iQoo 12 Pro, in contrast, could offer a larger 4,980mAh battery with 120W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging support.
