Embark on an epic journey in Wildermyth: Console Edition, a character-driven tactical RPG where your choices shape the destiny of your heroes. Throughout your adventures, you will lead a band of unique heroes as they evolve from humble beginnings to legendary warriors. With procedural storytelling, dynamic character development, and strategic combat, no one story is the same and Wildermyth offers endless replayability in creating your own legendary tales.

Here at Auroch Digital we’ve taken great care to ensure Wildermyth’s original design is preserved in the console edition. The UI and control scheme has been redesigned with gamepad in mind, but the same much-loved experience remains!

During your adventures in Wildermyth: Console Edition, you’ll encounter a menagerie of malevolent monsters. As you face these foes, their stats will be added to the Monster Compendium providing you with important intel about their health, speed, armour and warding.

That’s not all, though! Each entry contains enchanting excerpts of background information which will have your inner loremaster relishing the chance to gain a deeper understanding of these creatures, and the factions they serve.

Storytelling is at the heart of Wildermyth, so what better way is there to share stories than together? Up to four players can each take command of multiple characters, controlling them in combat and deciding on story event choices that will not only affect the entire party, but could lead to some rather strange appearance-altering results. Team up with your friends IRL and enjoy an unfolding story together.

Before you start along the overgrown trail into a world of adventure, we’re going to share some top tips to help you get started on your adventures in the Yondering Lands  Wildermyth: Console Edition.

Take Your Time to Fortify the Land for Resources and Increased Defences

As you scout through the lands, you’ll uncover many mysteries, encountering story events and delving into ancient ruins filled with malevolent monsters. While it might be tempting to chase down treasure, don’t neglect regions where eligible sites can be constructed.

After scouting a new region and defeating the enemies lurking there, your party can choose to spend some time there to ‘secure the site’, producing a building that provides a number of resources at the end of each chapter. Pay close attention to the symbols denoting what resources the site provides. There are Ingots, Heartwoods, Hide, Fabrics and Spellthreads.

In any region you’ve secured, you can also spend additional time in fortifying its defenses, which will give you bonuses when defending those map tiles during incursions – periods of the game where monsters set out to rampage all those sites you’ve spent time constructing.

Spend Legacy Points When Crafting New Equipment

So, you’ve spent time securing sites and gaining resources, but now what? Now it’s time to make equipment, which is crucial for surviving more challenging combat situations.

At the end of the chapter, or in settlements, you’ll be able to craft equipment for your party with all those resources you’ve gained. Here’s a tip from one adventurer to another: you can use Legacy Points (acquired through events) to fill in the gaps if you’re missing a particular resource, allowing you some liberties when upgrading the gear sets of your team.

That’s not the only way to gain powerful items, though! When securing sites, you can spend a bit more time to rife through the location and find a piece of equipment once the region is secured. It’s random so you can’t always bank on it being the equipment you need but it’s an easy way, particularly in the early stages of the campaign, to gain new loot and gear.

There are other ways to get items, too! Look out for little spirits during combat as chasing these down and getting into contact with them will often grant you an option to enhance your weapon.

Relationships Aren’t Just for Show, They Provide Buffs and Bonuses

Your party members will form relationships throughout their adventures, whether that’s friendship, love or rivalry. These relationships aren’t simply for show though, you can exploit them during combat.

When a character is attacked by an enemy, their love will deal additional damage (called Lover’s Vengeance) to that same enemy, allowing a pair of lovers to really focus down a particularly tough enemy.

Rivals on the other hand are always trying to outdo one another. When a character stunts (that means scoring critical hit in Wildermyth), their rival will have a chance to do the same. Suddenly you’ve got a ricochet of critical hits being scored – super!

Take advantage not just of your party’s equipment and skills, but the relationships that form between them, to succeed in combat.

Death Rolls a Little Differently in Wildermyth: Console Edition

Oh no! The worst has happened, your beloved Warrior “Balthazar” has fallen in combat. In most cases, your hero will die but not without dealing devastating damage to an enemy or providing a buff for the rest of the team.

Not all heroes are forgotten when they die. After a battle where a character has fallen, you can use Legacy Points to construct a tomb in a similar manner to securing a site. Once the tomb is constructed, that character will be added to the annals of legends, allowing you to call upon that hero in future playthroughs and other campaigns. This is a great way to breathe new life into a character that you so dearly love.

In some cases, though, the character can escape the battle broken but not defeated. There’s always a cost, whether that’s a permanent reduction in their stats or the loss of a limb… luckily, there’s a way around that!

Make Wise Choices  – They Come with a Cost

We mentioned earlier that throughout your adventures, you’ll experience numerous story events. The choices you make in these events can have some striking results, even transforming your characters permanently. Always think through the choice you’re going to make and the impact it can have on your character and the rest of the party.

Showing scorn to a wandering crow woman results in a very different transformation than embracing the gifts she can offer. All these transformations come with abilities or stat increases and combining them with the skills your characters learn is a really good way to maximise your combat prowess and strategy.

Take Crow Wings, for example – now your Warrior can fly into the heat of battle, bypassing their slow movement or any obstacles.

We hope these tips set you off well on the road to adventure. Remember, Wildermyth is a tale of daring gambits, valiant efforts and tragic sacrifices. Now it’s time to weave a story of your own… where will your myth lead?
