Musical artist Chance the Rapper was surprised to run into actor Martin Short on a flight after he offered to switch seats with the rapper’s daughter.

In a tweet, the singer gives a shoutout to Short, a prolific actor and comedian, calling him “an awesome person” as he offered to swap seats with Kensli, Chance’s 7-year-old daughter.

He says he found out he and his daughter were not sitting together on the flight when a “kind older gentleman offered his seat,” only later realizing who he actually was.

“We both said thank you and as he stands up, I realize it’s THE Martin Short!!” the rapper wrote in a tweet Sunday.

“Kensli freaked out,” he continued, “she’s obsessed with ‘The Santa Clause 3,’” in which Short plays villain Jack Frost.

Originally from Hamilton, Ont., Short recently produced and acted in Hulu’s mystery comedy television show “Only Murders in the Building,” for which he received two Emmy nominations in 2022.

In addition to winning two Emmy awards previously and a Tony, Short has received the Order of Canada and a Governor General Performing Arts Award.

Short started his career with The Second City improv group before joining “Saturday Night Live,” and he also starred alongside Steve Martin in the 1991 movie “Father of the Bride.”
