“Come From Away,” the hit Canadian musical that recently concluded its record-breaking Broadway run, will return to Gander, N.L. with a cast of Broadway and West End stars, along with nine Newfoundland and Labradorians.

The all-new production, directed by Newfoundlander Jillian Keiley, will run in Gander, N.L. — the town in which the musical is largely set — from July to September 2023.

“I can’t wait to bring a Newfoundland perspective to the creation of this new version, and to show these wonderful artists from around the world just what everyone is singing about,” said Keiley in a statement.

Producer Michael Rubinoff, who was the originating producer of “Come From Away,” said it has been “a dream” to bring the show back home to the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.

The musical by Irene Sankoff and David Hein, follows the residents of Gander and the surrounding communities as they welcomed thousands of stranded passengers following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

The Gander cast includes Petrina Bromley and Astrid Van Wieren, both members of the original Broadway cast. Newfoundlander Bromley played SPCA worker Bonnie Harris in the Broadway company and will play Beverley and Others in the Gander production. Van Wieren, who originated the role of Beulah and Others, will play Diane and Others in the upcoming run.

Other actors set to appear in the musical include Newfoundland and Labradorians Clint Butler and Kate Etienne, who were also part of the Toronto and North American touring companies of the show. Butler will play Kevin T. and Others while Etienne will assume the role of Margie and Others. Stuart Hickey, who appeared in the West End company of “Come From Away,” will star as Nick and Others in the upcoming production.

Tickets for the production are currently on sale at artsandculturecentre.com.
