With so many different streaming platforms and cable offerings to navigate, choosing what to watch has never been harder. To make things easier, here are our best tune-in tips for the week ahead.
WEDNESDAY
Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal
In a relatively slow week for Netflix, this true crime doc is probably the highlight. It follows one of South Carolina’s most prominent families and how the boating accident death of a teenager begins to unravel their legacy. Mallory Beach’s passing is followed by the murders of Paul Murdaugh (the driver of the boat) and his mother Maggie, resulting in a coverup conspiracy that you need to see to believe.

The Challenge: Ride or Dies — Reunion Pt. 1
Longtime fans of Johnny “Bananas” Devenanzio who are still reeling from his loss on “The Challenge: Ride or Dies” finale last week get another chance to see the single greatest challenger on Wednesday’s reunion show. For those unfamiliar with one of the longest-running reality programs around, “The Challenge” features former “Real World” and “Are You The One?” cast members and stars from international reality programs competing against each other in death-defying competitions. The winners receive $1 million.

THURSDAY
Grey’s Anatomy
While it might be the winter premiere of “Grey’s Anatomy,” it’s also Meredith Grey’s last day at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. Ellen Pompeo, one of the few remaining original cast members, is finally bidding adieu to the series. Can “Grey’s” continue without its title character or is this a precursor to its final chapter? Pompeo will return for at least one more episode (the season finale) and will continue to narrate the series despite not starring in it. As for her penultimate episode, the other doctors plan a surprise party for the departing Meredith and that’s where Nick (Scott Speedman) questions the future of their relationship (little late for that, don’t you think?).

FRIDAY
The Reluctant Traveler
The pick of the week is a new project from Emmy Award winner Eugene Levy. The former “Schitt’s Creek” star hosts a series that sees him take on adventures around the world as he tries to absorb and appreciate the cultures around him. He visits destinations in Costa Rica, Finland, Italy, Japan, Maldives, Portugal, South Africa and the U.S., proving that he is anything but your average thrill seeker.

The Consultant
Christoph Waltz stars as Regus Patoff in this Amazon original dark comedy about a consultant hired to improve operations at an app-based gaming company. Described as the creepiest boss ever, Patoff pushes a work-first agenda, taking charge after the death of the previous CEO. It’s later discovered that Patoff’s last employer was helmed by a CEO who died two weeks after Patoff was brought on.

Die Hart
Kevin Hart plays a fictionalized version of himself in this new movie about the actor’s desire to stop being typecast as a comedian and to be taken seriously as an action star. John Travolta plays Ron Wilcox, the leader of an “action hero school” in which Hart enrols to learn what it will take to reinvent himself. This movie was originally written as a 10-episode project for Quibi before the short-form streaming service went kaput and Roku acquired its assets.

DON’T MISS
Sharper
This Apple original debuted last week and is based on the theme of never judging a book by its cover. The main characters, Tom (Justice Smith) and Sandra (Brianna Middleton), each believe they have found their soulmate after meeting in a bookstore. Their blossoming romance is stopped short, however, when a stranger banging on their door forces Sandra to admit her brother’s many debts. The result is a layered plot line in which everything appears to be a front for something else. If you were a fan of “Kaleidoscope” on Netflix, you might also like the fact that each chapter of this film starts at a different point in the story. Julianne Moore, Sebastian Stan and John Lithgow also star.
