Golden Knights pull ahead late, top Jets 5-3 in playoff rematch

WINNIPEG – Jack Eichel scored the go-ahead goal with 4:36 remaining and the Vegas Golden Knights defeated the Winnipeg Jets 5-3 on Thursday night.

Jonathan Marchessault, Brett Howden, Alec Martinez and Nicolas Roy, with the late empty-netter, added the others for Vegas (5-0-0).

Logan Thompson made 36 saves.

Alex Iafallo led the way for Winnipeg (1-3-0) with two goals, Cole Perfetti scoring the other.

Laurent Brossoit stopped 22 of 26 shots.

The contest was a rematch of the teams’ first-round playoff series last season, which the eventual champion Golden Knights won 4-1.
