Marilyn Denis, the Canadian media personality and veteran broadcaster, announced Thursday she is stepping away from daytime television. Her hit national program “The Marilyn Denis Show” on CTV will conclude in June after more than 2,000 shows and 13 seasons.
“Hosting a national television show has been a career highlight, and such a rewarding and fulfilling chapter in my life, but after more than three decades of balancing my radio show with a daytime series I’m ready to step away and refocus on my family and other projects,” said Denis, in a press release issued Thursday morning by Bell Media, which produces the program.
Denis, 64, made the announcement live during her show, stressing that while she’s leaving daytime television, she’s not retiring. She added that she will continue to co-host “Marilyn Denis and Jamar” with Jamar McNeil on CHUM 104.5. Her CTV original podcast series “Marilyn Does a Podcast” will also continue.
Denis said she looks forward to spending more time with her family, especially her granddaughter.
The Canadian media icon began her television career as a sports, weather, and entertainment reporter at CTV Calgary. For nearly two decades, she hosted the popular daily show “CityLine.”

Throughout her career, Denis has been feted with numerous awards. She was named as one of Canada’s most powerful women by the Women’s Executive Network. In 2006, she also earned The Rosalie Award, which recognizes trail-blazing Canadian women in radio broadcasting.
Her hit television program “The Marilyn Denis Show,” which primarily covers entertainment and lifestyle, connecting viewers with experts and celebrity guests, has won four Canadian Screen Awards.
The series’ farewell episode will air on June 9. Bell Media said CTV’s new daytime programming lineup, including a new series, will be announced later this year.
