With so many different streaming platforms and cable offerings to navigate, choosing what to watch has never been harder. To make things easier, here are our best tune-in tips for the week ahead.
MONDAY
Deadliest Mums & Dads
While the holidays offer the chance to spend more time at home with your family, this Discovery Plus series definitely gives you a greater appreciation for yours. “Deadliest Mums & Dads” tells the shocking stories of parents who murder their own children, using first-hand accounts from people who knew the victims and the killers. Criminologists also weigh in on whether the fatalities could have been prevented.

WEDNESDAY
Emily in Paris
The third season of “Emily in Paris,” one of Netflix’s most popular shows, sees our heroine working two jobs for Sylvie’s new agency alongside her duties for her old boss Madeline Wheeler (Kate Walsh). Things will apparently heat up between Emily and Alfie, whom we met last season. It also appears Emily and Camille have, at least briefly, regrouped after their fallout when we last saw them.
Netflix
Jack Ryan
The third season of this action-packed series features Jack (John Krasinski) working as a CIA officer in Rome when he receives a tip about a secret plan to restore the Soviet Empire. As Ryan investigates the intelligence report, he becomes implicated in a larger conspiracy.
Prime Video
Big Bet
This new South Korean series follows a man who struggles to become a casino mogul. It leads to Choi Min-sik’s character risking everything he has, including his own life, to achieve his ultimate goal. The series also stars Heo Sung-tae from “Squid Game.”

Mariah Carey: Merry Christmas to All!
Nothing says Christmas like a Mariah Carey holiday special. The five-time Grammy Award winner hosts this two-hour concert that will stream a week after her previously announced concerts in Toronto and New York City, from which she will likely use footage.

THURSDAY
The pick of the week is the new season of “Alice in Borderland.” While South Korea’s “Squid Game” got a lot of the headlines (deservedly so), it overshadowed a stellar first season from this international import. Like “Squid Game,” this Japanese series features a group of friends forced to compete in a series of psychological games to survive. It also featured one of the most heartbreaking single hours of television I have ever watched last season. To say any more would spoil this breathtaking masterpiece. If you haven’t seen the first season you have from now until this Thursday to catch up.
Netflix
Top Gun: Maverick
I didn’t see the original 1986 “Top Gun” until this year. The only reason I did so was to prepare for the sequel and, after watching the first, I was even more skeptical that the 2022 version would be better than its predecessor. That said, I was completely shocked by how good both movies were. I can now also confidently say that this new version is even better. Also, how is it possible that Tom Cruise still looks the same? “Top Gun: Maverick” is a must-see. Don’t make the same mistake and wait as long as I did with the first.

FRIDAY
Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery
The highly anticipated sequel to Rian Johnson’s “Knives Out” sees the return of detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) to another crime scene in Greece. The movie is finally available to stream on Netflix, but I still don’t think it has the same magic as the first.

SUNDAY
Letterkenny
The 11th season of the hit Crave comedy returns to see our favourite Hicks, Skids and Hockey Players fight over the best chip flavours, lost dogs and an influx of influencers who invade the small town. Other storylines to expect this season include a mystery at the church bake sale and unwanted guests who crash beer league.

The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse
This new animated short film is based on Charlie Mackesy’s book of the same name. The story features the unlikely quartet as the boy tries to find a new home. The film boasts a host of A-listers who lent their voices to the project, including Tom Hollander, Idris Elba and Gabriel Byrne. J.J. Abrams, Jony Ive and Woody Harrelson are just some of the names behind the project.
Apple TV Plus
Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical
The Tony Award-winning stage adaptation of the 1988 novel is now a full-length feature. The story about the extraordinary girl with the most vivid of imaginations stars Alisha Weir as the protagonist and features Emma Thompson as Miss Trunchbull. The good news for fans is that the screenplay by Dennis Kelly was based on the 2011 stage musical by Matthew Warchus.
