Pilot project to staff minor treatment clinic

1:42 PM

In an effort to further reduce ER wait times, an additional physician will staff the minor treatment clinic at Health Sciences Centre starting next week, health officials announced today.

The additional doctor means there will be two doctors on duty at a time and will allow them to potentially treat more than 20 additional patients per day, taking pressure off the ER.

The additional physician staffing is being done on a four-week pilot project basis with about $33,000 in additional funding for the clinic, which is located near the emergency department.

Health Minister Uzoma Asagwara said the pilot project is a direct result of the feedback they heard from frontline health workers.
