Jets blank Wild to sweep season series

8:44 PM

That’s what you call a convincing victory.

The Winnipeg Jets got the strong start they were searching for and sustained it over the course of three periods as they earned a convincing 5-0 victory over the Minnesota Wild before a sellout crowd of 15,225 at Canada Life Centre on Saturday night.

Connor Hellebuyck made 19 saves to record his league-leading 21st win and fourth shutout of the season, while the Jets got goals from Nikolaj Ehlers, Morgan Barron, Neal Pionk, Vladislav Namestnikov and Cole Perfetti, who had three points to pace the offensive attack.

With the win, the Jets improve to 24-10-1 on the season, complete the series sweep over the Wild and hold a five-point cushion in the Central Division standings.

The Jets, who have won eight consecutive regular season games over the Wild, play their final game before the holiday break on Monday afternoon against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
