Bombers fall to Argos 16-14 in OT

TORONTO — The Winnipeg Blue Bombers 2024 season took another turn for the worse, as the Blue and Gold fell to the Toronto Argonauts 16-14 in overtime at BMO Saturday night.

The Bombers tied the game late in the fourth quarter with a 55-yard score from QB Zach Collaros to Ontaria Wilson, after the Argos had gone up by a touchdown with an interception returned to the house by Tavarus McFadded.

The Bombers drop to 2-6 with the loss. The Argos improved to 4-3 with the win.

Crews respond to fire on Abbotsford Crescent

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service was called to a house on Abbotsford Crescent for reports of a fire Saturday morning.

When crews arrived shortly after 5 a.m., they found a “well-involved fire with heavy smoke.” The fire was extinguished around an hour later.

No injuries were reported. Damage estimates are not available. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Pair facing charges after robbery

Winnipeg police have arrested two men in their 30s after a robbery near the 300 block of Furby Street Friday afternoon.

Police say the suspects, who were driving a vehicle with stolen licence plates, robbed a man and woman of cash and cigarettes.

The vehicle and suspects were later found near Isabel Street and Logan Avenue. After fleeing on foot, the suspects were arrested in the 900 block of Palmerston Avenue.

A 37-year-old and 33-year-old man have been charged with robbery, possession of a weapon, and disguise with intent.

The suspects were detained in custody.
