Missing Winnipeg woman, 70, last seen near Seven Oakes Avenue and Scotia Street

The Winnipeg Police Service has issued a silver alert and is seeking the public’s assistance in locating 70 year-old Deborah Eccles.

Eccles — described as 5’2” in height, very thin build, brown eyes with short grey hair, and possibly wearing a grey sweater and jeans — was last seen in the vicinity of Seven Oaks Avenue and Scotia Street at approximately 2:00 pm on Sunday, Aug. 11. Eccles is known to frequent area parks.

The Winnipeg Police Service is asking anyone with any information regarding their whereabouts to contact the Winnipeg Police Service Missing Persons Unit at 204-986-6250.

Winnipeg man charged after $283,000 crime spree in West End commercial break-ins

A 38-year-old Winnipeg man, Mathew Daniel Ross, has been arrested and charged in connection with a series of break-and-enters in the West End area between June 18 and August 8.

The crimes resulted in an estimated $283,000 in stolen property and $51,000 in damage.

Ross faces multiple charges including 23 counts of break and enter, theft, fraud, robbery, and possession of stolen property. Several stolen vehicles, some taken from the targeted businesses, were used during the crime spree.

Ross is currently detained in custody.

Two dead, two critically injured in single-vehicle rollover near Cormorant

Two people are dead, and two others are in critical condition following a single-vehicle rollover on Provincial Road 287 near Cormorant on August 10, 2024. The vehicle, carrying five occupants, lost control, entered a ditch, and rolled.

A 35-year-old from Opaskwayak Cree Nation and a 36-year-old from Prince Albert, SK, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and a 28-year-old female were airlifted to Winnipeg with life-threatening injuries, while another passenger was treated and released.

The Pas RCMP and a forensic collision reconstructionist are investigating the incident.
