Stars close gap on Jets

DALLAS — The Winnipeg Jets have dropped three consecutive games for the first time this season.

Closing out a season-long six-game road trip, the Jets battled hard but fell 3-1 to the Dallas Stars on Sunday.

Mason Marchment broke a 1-1 tie with a beautiful backhand goal at 12:23 of the third period.

With the loss, the Jets finish the road-weary stretch of nine of 10 games on the road with a record of 4-6 and they dropped to 18-7 on the season.

Adam Lowry scored the lone goal for the Jets, who got 28 saves from Connor Hellebuyck.

As the Jets return home, they find themselves in a tie for first place in the Central Division with the Minnesota Wild, who hold a game in hand.

Cyclist found with shotgun, fentanyl

A 32-year-old man has been charged after police seized a sawed-off shotgun and nine grams of fentanyl from a cyclist in the North End on Saturday night.

Police officers in a cruiser were patrolling around Redwood Avenue and Andrews Street when a man on a mountain bike passed in front of the police cruiser, nearly causing a collision, the Winnipeg Police Service stated in a news release. Police chased the cyclist and arrested him. They seized a loaded Sawed-off Winchester Model 12-gauge shotgun, 20 shotgun shells, and nine grams of fentanyl with an estimated street value of $3,600.
The 32-year-old suspect has been charged with multiple weapons offences, drug possession, and failing to exercise due care on a roadway under the Highway Traffic Act.

Woman accused of assaulting library security personnel

Winnipeg police seized a folding knife from a woman in a downtown skywalk Saturday morning. The 45-year-old woman had set off the metal detector at the Millennium Library and was denied entry by security. She allegedly yelled, threatened and pulled out the knife at two male security guards, the police service stated in a news release.

Police were contacted and the downtown foot patrol located a suspect at about 10:50 a.m. Nov. 30 in the skywalk. She faces two charges of assault with a weapon and one charge of possession of a weapon. She was released on an undertaking.
