Jets lose 4-1 to Blue Jackets

The Winnipeg Jets fell 4-1 to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Sunday at Canada Life Centre.

Kyle Connor opened the scoring in the second period, but that’s all the offence the home team could muster. The Jets were playing for a second straight day, and third time in the past four days, and seemed to run out of gas.

Columbus scored three times in the third period to pull away.

Winnipeg is now 20-9-0 on the year. Columbus improves to 12-12-3.

The Jets return to action Tuesday when they host the Boston Bruins.

Police seize weapons, drugs in traffic stop

Three Manitoba men face weapons and drug trafficking charges after Winnipeg police pulled over a vehicle in the 800 block of Taylor Avenue at about 5 p.m. Saturday.

Officers saw BB gun pellets in plain view in the vehicle after they pulled over the driver, who they say falsely identified himself, WPS stated in a news release Sunday.

A 42-year-old Easterville man, Henry Joseph Bourassa, was arrested along with a 26-year-old man from Grand Rapids and a 19-year-old man from Easterville whose names weren’t released by police. The younger men were released on undertakings.

Police seized two airsoft pistols, BB pellets, .22-calibre ammunition, 160 Hydromorphone pills with a street value of about $3,200, 335 grams of cocaine with a street value of about $33,500, drug packaging and cash, cellphones as well as a gang-affiliated leather vest and gang “support wear.”
