The Winnipeg Jets face an uphill climb if they want to extend a five-game winning streak, trailing the Nashville Predators 3-0 after two periods of play on Sunday night at Bridgestone Arena.
The Jets gave up a goal to Yakov Trenin with 18.9 seconds to go in the first period, a sharp-angle shot from Roman Josi at 1:26 of the second period and then a power play marker to Gustav Nyquist to round out the scoring so far.
Josi, the Predators captain and smooth-skating blue-liner, has three points to lead the offensive charge.
Predators goalie Juuse Saros has been sharp, turning aside all 23 shots he’s faced so far, while Laurent Brossoit has made 15 saves for the Jets in his fifth start of the season.

Yakov Trenin buried a rebound with 18.9 seconds to go in the first period to give the Nashville Predators a 1-0 lead over the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday night at Bridgestone Arena.
This was an entertaining period with glorious scoring chances at both ends of the ice and the goaltenders playing a starring role.
Making his fifth start of the season, Jets goalie Laurent Brossoit was sharp and turned aside 13 of the 14 shots on goal that he faced, Predators netminder Juuse Saros made 13 saves of his own.
Going into the contest, the Jets have won five consecutive games, while the Predators have won four straight.
