Illness forces bare-bones performance of Jagged Little Pill

5:12 PM

Wednesday night’s performance of Jagged Little Pill: The Musical at the Centennial Concert Hall left audience members in the dark when the show started half an hour late without explanation.

The ensuing production was presented in a “concert version,” without sets, and with performers seated in a semi-circle of chairs on the stage.

According to statement from the show: “The safety and well-being of our audience, cast, crew and orchestra remain our top priority. Due to illness in the company, last night’s performance of Jagged Little Pill could not be presented as intended. We regret any disappointment this change created for patrons and thank the audience for their support of the ‘concert version’ that was presented instead.

“All future performances of Jagged Little Pill at Centennial Concert Hall are scheduled to go on as originally planned.”

Refunds or complimentary entrance to any other performance during the show’s run have been offered to Oct. 18 patrons.

The Tony-winning Broadway musical based on Alanis Morissette’s 1995 album runs to Sunday.

Bombers Schoen doubtful to play vs. Elks

3:25 PM

Winnipeg Blue Bombers all-star receiver Dalton Schoen is doubtful to suit up in a pivotal matchup against the Edmonton Elks at IG Field Saturday night.

Schoen injured his ankle late in a Week 18 win over the B.C. Lions, and as the Bombers returned to practice after an ensuing bye week, Schoen has been unable to join the workouts for three straight days. If Schoen can’t go, the expectation is Brendan O’Leary-Orange will get the start.

Schoen is in the midst of another stellar season, registering the most touchdowns of any receiver, with 10, and has the third-most receiving yards, recording 1,222 on 71 catches.

The Bombers currently lead the West, at 12-4, and can wrap up the division with a win over the Elks.
