Jets trail Stars 1-0 after two periods

8:51 PM

Joe Pavelski’s second period goal is the difference so far as the Dallas Stars lead the Winnipeg Jets 1-0 through 40 minutes at Canada Life Centre.

Shots are 16-14 in favour of the home team.

Winnipeg had a glorious chance to take the lead with a 68 second 5-on-3 power play but couldn’t beat Dallas goaltender Jake Oettinger.

Pavelski scored shortly after the two minors expired. The Jets challenged for goaltender interference, claiming Pavelski’s stick had grazed Connor Hellebuyck’s mask, but the challenge was unsuccessful.

This is the start of a four-game homestand for Winnipeg.

He also drove in 67 runs and drew 41 walks while striking out just 36 times in 439 plate appearances as the leadoff hitter.
