Noland scores 21 off the bench, North Texas knocks off LSU 84-77 in NIT

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — C.J. Noland helped lead North Texas over LSU on Tuesday night with 21 points off of the bench in an 84-77 victory in the NIT.

Noland shot 7 for 10 (3 for 4 from 3-point range) and 4 of 4 from the free-throw line for the Mean Green (19-14). Rubin Jones scored 17 points while shooting 5 for 11 (3 for 5 from 3-point range) and 4 of 5 from the free-throw line and added four steals. Jason Edwards shot 5 of 11 from the field, including 1 for 4 from 3-point range, and went 5 for 10 from the line to finish with 16 points.

Jordan Wright led the way for the Tigers (17-16) with 25 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals. Trae Hannibal added 15 points, nine rebounds and four assists for LSU. Hunter Dean had 11 points.

North Texas took the lead with 7:16 left in the first half and did not relinquish it. Jones led his team in scoring with 12 points in the first half to help put them ahead 38-31 at the break. Noland scored 13 second-half points.
