Canadian fans were buzzing during the season finale of “The Mandalorian” on Wednesday after the popular “Star Wars” spinoff series hinted that Canadian actor Paul Sun-Hyung Lee could have a much larger role in upcoming episodes.

Lee, primarily known for his Canadian Screen Award-winning performance on CBC’s “Kim’s Convenience,” plays New Republic captain Carson Teva on the Disney Plus series, which follows a lone bounty hunter who travels to the outer reaches of the galaxy to protect a young child, Grogu, from malevolent Imperial forces.

Lee has a recurring part on the show, but his character’s prominent role in this week’s season finale already has some fans speculating he could be promoted to a series regular.

At the end of Wednesday’s episode, the show’s title character makes a deal will Lee’s Teva to root out remnant Imperial forces, setting up a possible fourth season that could heavily feature Lee.

When the Calgary-raised actor was initially cast in the show during its second season, the self-professed “Star Wars” fan said it was a “dream come true.”

“I cried during the costume fitting. For real,” he wrote in a tweet at the time.

Since joining the production in 2020 as a guest star, Lee has seen his profile grow on the show over the past two seasons. Earlier this month, the actor shared that his character is being made into an action figure. The character even has its own emoji.

The release date for the show’s fourth season has yet to be announced, though showrunner Jon Favreau confirmed he has already written it.
