Some Taylor Swift fans are getting another chance to buy concert tickets, says Ticketmaster

Share

Taylor Swift fans around the world woke up Monday to an unexpected note from Ticketmaster.

Following last month’s presale fiasco for Taylor Swift’s upcoming Eras Tour, Ticketmaster has offered some fans the “limited-time opportunity” to purchase two tickets to the concert.

An email to selected fans says the initiative is for customers who received a “boost” during last month’s Verified Fan presale but did not purchase tickets. In the email, Ticketmaster issued an apology “for the difficulties you may have experienced,” and expressed that they have been “asked by Taylor’s team to create this additional opportunity for you to purchase tickets.”

According to Ticketmaster, these emails will be sent out on an individual basis before Dec. 23. Additional information on the sale is forthcoming.

In November, following the Eras Tour presale, the U.S. Justice Department opened a probe into Live Nation Entertainment Inc. to investigate whether the conglomerate has abused its power over the live entertainment industry.

Last month, Swift fans reportedly waited in virtual lineups for several hours without being able to secure a ticket to the upcoming Eras Tour. Swift, who last week announced she would be writing and directing her first feature film, issued an apology for the situation on her since-archived Instagram story, in which she said it was “excruciating … to just watch mistakes happen with no recourse.” At the end of her apology, she sad her “hope” was to “provide more opportunities for us to all get together and sing these songs.”

No Canadian dates have yet been announced for the Eras Tour. Swift’s last appearance in Toronto was in September to promote her short film “All Too Well,” and before that for her “Reputation” stadium tour in 2018.
