CONWAY, Ark. (AP) — Kayvon Britten ran for 156 yards on 22 carries and scored twice and Tarleton State beat Central Arkansas 25-23 on Saturday.
Britten’s 38-yard run with 64 seconds before halftime completed an 11-play, 79-yard drive that gave the Texans (6-3, 2-2 United Athletic Conference) a 13-7 lead they held to for the remainder. Britten’s 59-yard jaunt to start the fourth quarter extended the margin to 22-10.
Will McElvain threw a 3-yard scoring pass to Jordan Owens for Central Arkansas (5-3, 2-1) that capped the scoring with 14 seconds left.
It was McElvain’s third scoring pass, second to Owens, and concluded a 10-play, 72-yard scoring drive that lasted 1:45. McElvain complete 6-of-8 passes for 63 yards on the drive. A 15-yard face-mask penalty by the Bears helped aid the drive.
The Bears kicked the ball deep, bypassing an onside-kick attempt and the Texans killed the clock.
