Valour blanks Pacific for fourth win

Valour FC got back in the win column for the first time in a month, blanking Pacific FC 3-0 in Langford, B.C. on Sunday.

Winnipeg’s pro soccer club improved to 4-2-10 but remains near the bottom of the Canadian Premier League table and six points out of a playoff spot with 12 matches left.

It was a much-needed victory, nevertheless, and the team’s first road win since May 20.

Themi Antonoglou (43rd minute), Shaan Hundal (76th minute) and Abdul Binate (92nd minute) all scored on a night Valour’s offence was clicking. The team controlled the ball for just 36 per cent of the match but were opportunistic with their chances, generating 13 shots and landing six of them on goal.

Valour will need more strong performances to reintroduce themselves to the playoff conversation, and the opportunity couldn’t be greater with nine of their last 12 matches being at home.

Valour will welcome Forge FC to Princess Auto Stadium on Sunday, Aug. 4 at 2 p.m.
